Eleonora is an Osteopath and Pilates instructor.
She is very passionate about her job and is a firm believer that each person is unique and should be treated as such. She employs a holistic approach to treatment, seeking to identify and treat the cause of the presenting problem rather than simply focusing on relieving its symptoms. She is particularly interested in treating the spine as a means of enhancing the functionality of other areas of the body, given the close anatomical connections between the spine and the limbs.
A wide range of conditions, from sports injuries to chronic complaints, can be considered under the umbrella of Osteopathy. Eleonora mainly uses hands-on techniques and sometimes gives advice on lifestyle and exercise habits.
Eleonora completed a postgraduate course in Traditional Osteopathic Methods, which champions the concept of the body as a ‘whole’, where a specific treatment enables the body to restore homeostasis, improve health and reduce pain. This philosophy has had a great impact on her professional experience and on her perception of her patients’ general wellbeing, as it does not just approach the area experiencing pain but looks at the body as a unit. She finds it exciting to be able to put the ‘patient narrative’ into a context that is compatible with individual patients’ stories. No shortcuts means long-lasting effects and rewarding care!
Her training in rehabilitative care progressed from her original training as a fitness instructor and Pilates trainer. She has been teaching matwork classes and apparatus sessions on individual and group bases for the last 10 years in Italy, Australia and now in the UK. Eleonora believes that Pilates is one of the best exercise methods to train the body. It’s not just about flexibility and strength but about awareness of what and how you are doing things to get the most of the many movements that you make every single day. It’s all about freedom of movement.
The need for an even more comprehensive approach to health led Eleonora to seek further knowledge from the field of nutrition. Her personal experience in dealing with a chronic skin condition resulted in a deep interest in the powerful positive impact that a balanced diet can have on our general health. She is now enrolled in a 3-year diploma course to become a naturopathic nutritionist.
Eleonora previously worked as a physiotherapist in Italy for 6 years, where she gained experience on patients’ pre- and post- surgery rehabilitative care and massage. She is also qualified in the Mezieres method, a whole-body approach that focuses on restoring pain-free movement and functionality to patients through specific postural techniques designed to elongate the posterior myofascial chain and to encourage neutral spine alignment.
Eleonora is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and is fully insured. She speaks fluent English and Italian.
